ABOUT NVEA

The Nevada Esports Alliance (NVEA) is a non-profit organization comprised of stakeholders in Nevada’s esports ecosystem. We provide information and resources to educate and promote the development of best practices at the intersection of the esports and regulated gambling industries, including:

• Casino integration of esports

• Legal and regulatory processes

• Game development

• Competition infrastructure

The NVEA aims to bring people and information together, cultivating partnerships among business, international organizations, governmental, and non-government groups. We encourage voluntary self-regulation standards and corporate codes of conduct. We support Nevada’s gold standard of gambling regulation to foster a healthy environment of sports integrity for the field of esports in this state and beyond.

Brett Abarbanel

Brett Abarbanel

Director

Brett is the Director of Research at the UNLV International Gaming Institute, with a joint appointment at the UCLA Gambling Studies Program. Dr. Abarbanel’s research investigates global gambling and social science applications in esports and new technologies, including policy and behavior, operations, and responsible gaming and gambling. She has presented on esports and gambling topics to academic, government, and industry audiences on 4 different continents. Abarbanel also sits on the advisory board for Leet, a technology company that creates skill- and chance-based applications for popular video games.

Jennifer Roberts

Jennifer Roberts

Director

Jennifer Roberts is the Associate Director of the International Center for Gaming Regulation at UNLV. Prior to that, she practiced gaming law for 13 years at the law firms of Duane Morris and Lionel Sawyer & Collins. Jennifer’s current legal practice includes alcohol beverage licensing and compliance, as well as land use and zoning, business licensing, and regulatory and administrative law. She is an adjunct professor of gaming law at both the William S. Boyd School of Law and the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah.

Seth Schorr

Seth Schorr

Director

Seth Schorr is the CEO of Fifth Street Gaming and Chairman of Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino. Downtown Grand has been positioned as the first esports-friendly Vegas hotel, with weekly esports tournaments, viewing parties, boot camps, and the first Vegas esports residency program. Schorr is on the board of Millennial Esports, who operate an esports arena in Downtown Las Vegas, and of GameCo, the manufacturer of the world’s first video game slot machine. In November 2016, Schorr worked with the Nevada Gaming Control Board to facilitate the first legal bet on an esports match placed in the US.
